This has been one of my favorite snacks lately, it really hits the spot if I have an afternoon sweet tooth! I was inspired to make this recipe by the ‘Dark Chocolate Nut Trio’ snack mix they sell at my local Market Basket grocery store. It is SO good, but expensive – so I wanted to make my own version at home for much less!

I feel a bit silly calling this a “recipe” because it’s just mixing 3 things together, but after trying out different nut-to-chocolate ratios, the ingredient amounts in this one are perfect. Feel free to play around and adjust – if you want more chocolates or different nuts, this recipe is a great blueprint to start building your own favorite mix!

Ingredients You’ll Need

This recipe is just 3 ingredients, so let’s dive in! The first are unsalted cashews. I like roasted unsalted cashews which have a nice nutty flavor. If you can only find unsalted raw cashews, you can place them on a sheet pan for a few minutes until they are toasted in the oven and lightly brown.

Next are almonds – you can use either unsalted almonds or lightly salted almonds. Either are delicious! When I make this specific nut mix I do use lightly salted ones as they add just a little bit of salty flavor which pairs nicely with the chocolate.

For the chocolate, I used dark chocolate chunks. I find chunks are nice as you get a good amount of chocolate in each bite, but you can use smaller dark chocolate chips instead too!

Additions and Substitutions

You can use any chocolate you like: milk chocolate or white chocolate are great options! I find the slight bitterness of dark chocolate really nice in this, but sweeter hocolates are also great.

Try different nuts! Walnuts, hazelnuts, shelled pistachios, or peanuts would all be great additions or substitutions.

Add in dried fruit – raisins, dried cranberries, chopped apricots, or dried apple slices would all be tasty additions.
