I love shopping for fresh produce through Misfits Market. They sell fresh groceries, pantry staples, and fantastic food finds (& great low sodium options) at a discount. Choose what goes into the box, get $15 off your first order, and save time with delivery to your door.
- Sweet Onion – I used Vidalia onions, which are large sweet yellow onions. Mellow and sweet. Try and use a sweet or yellow onion if you can, red onions may be too spicy and white onions too sharp.
- Fresh Garlic – which adds great flavor to this dressing.
- Honey – I added a little bit of honey for more sweetness in this dressing. You can substitute your favorite natural sweetener (like maple syrup or agave nectar) if desired. If using sugar, brown sugar will give you a bit more flavor than white.
- Apple Cider Vinegar, gives this sauce a little extra tang which is really fantastic! I love using this organic apple cider vinegar with the mother which has a great flavor, extra sweetness, and depth.
- Whole Grain Mustard – for a really nice flavor and texture. Using a good mustard makes all the difference, and I like the texture of whole grain mustard in this dressing. The mustard contains the most added sodium in this recipe (100mg for 1 teaspoon). If you can find a lower sodium mustard or Dijon, you can substitute it if you need to.
- Black Pepper
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil: I like to use a fruity olive oil which has a fantastic flavor and deep color. Olive oil gives this dish a great taste, and also can benefit you!
