- All Purpose Flour: I use King Arthur organic all purpose flour for all my recipes, I love the consistency and texture of the crumb this flour produces. If you are gluten free, then a gluten free flour would be a nice substitute in this dish. If you want to keep it a little wholesome, you can use half whole wheat flour as well.
- Cacao Powder: this unsweetened cacao powder is a healthy and good-for-you addition to this sauce. Raw Cacao powder is loaded with antioxidants and has tons of healthy benefits. Make sure you use a raw cacao powder and not sweetened baking cocoa… it makes a huge difference.
- Granulated Sugar: I like this organic sugar for my recipes, I recommend organic sugar for cooking and baking.
- Unsalted Butter – we only use unsalted butter in all our recipes, it’s a great way to cut down on your salt & sodium intake with a simple swap.
- Eggs – We try to get cage free / free range eggs when we can. There isn’t any nutritional difference, but I always try to support animal welfare when I can!
- Sodium Free Baking Powder: Regular baking powder has a TON of sodium – really, check the labels! We love this low sodium version, for a healthier swap. And it still makes the fluffiest crepes!
- Vanilla Extract: it’s super important to use real pure vanilla extract, and not artificial baking vanilla flavor. This real all natural vanilla is a fantastic ingredient to give this recipe an #extra boost.
