These crispy low sodium French fried onions are the perfect recipe to top your holiday green bean casserole! They are simple to make, taste fantastic, and have no added salt!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 large sweet onion thinly sliced
  • 1 egg
  • cup milk
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup low sodium panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil

Instructions
 

  • Thinly slice the onions, and set aside. Heat the oil in skillet.
  • In a medium bowl, add the egg and the milk. Whisk until frothy and well-combined. Add the sliced onions and soak them for 10 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, the low sodium breadcrumbs, and the black pepper.
  • Take the sliced onions that have been soaking in the egg mixture, and dredge them through the flour until lightly coated.
  • Place the coated onion slices in the oil, and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Add crispy fried onions to green bean casseroles, on burgers, or soups and salads. Enjoy!
