Low Sodium Almond Milk

This low sodium almond milk recipe has 2-ingredients, takes just 5 minutes, has no preservatives, and costs pennies to make compared to store bought.  Homemade almond milk is a naturally sweet and creamy milk to drink, use in recipes, or to enjoy with cereal.

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Nut Milk Bag, or cheese cloth

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup raw unsalted almonds
  • 4 cups water

Instructions
 

For Plain/Unsweetened Almond Milk

  • Add the almonds and water to a blender. Start the blender on a low setting and gradually work up to the highest  speed. Blend for 3 minutes.
  • Strain almond milk through a nut milk bag or very fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
  • Enjoy warmed or iced!

To Make Vanilla Almond Milk

  • Follow the above recipe, but also add 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract in step 1.

To Make Chocolate Almond Milk

  • Follow the above recipe but add 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of cacao powder, and a pinch of cinnamon in step 1.
