This low sodium halibut recipe has tender, flaky white fish topped with garlic, pepper, a low sodium cracker topping, and fresh lemon! It's fresh, flavorful, and simple to make.
Place halibut filets on a plate, skin side down. Remove any bones, and pat the halibut dry.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Add the oil to the bottom of a baking dish (I used a 13 x 9 casserole dish). Place the salmon in the greased dish, skin side down.
In a medium bowl, add the butter crackers, minced garlic, and melted butter. Mash with a fork until crackers have crumbled and the mixture is well combined.
Top each halibut filet with 1-2 tablespoons of the cracker mixture. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over each filet.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, until fish is opaque, white, and flaky, and reaches an internal temperature of 135 degrees Fahrenheit. The cracker topping should begin to brown.
Garnish with thyme or parsley, and squeeze a little extra lemon juice over each fish filet before serving, enjoy!
